Welcome to the Serving Wench Blog!

We at the Serving wench are happy and excited to launch our new food blog! We firmly believe in the joy, inspiration, and fun of cooking, and we hope that we can bring this to you.

Food often has deep roots in our collective family traditions, and through cooking we can continue these traditions we all hold dear. Memories based upon the smell of a holiday or family dinner can be very precious.

But cooking doesn’t have to be just about the old and beloved dishes, it is about creativity and discovery of new tastes and smells that can inspire!

This blog will be our way of sharing our own traditions and discoveries with you, and we sincerely hope you will enjoy!

Today we were graciously invited to prepare some fun and healthy appetizers for a promotional event for Isla Nueve (an inspiring local business).  At the event there was great music, wonderful people and fun art! We were happy to be a part of the fun!

The first dish we prepared was the sweet No Bake Energy Bites, a delicious cookie of chocolate, raisins, peanut butter and oats. This dish takes almost no time at all to prepare and is a great healthy treat. I will personally bring these next time I go hiking or camping instead of spending money on granola bars!Image

The second dish was an Indonesian inspired Mango Peanut Salsa. Sweet fresh mango with spicy jalapenos and red onion, finished with a touch of lime juice and some savory dry-roasted peanuts for texture. It had vibrant colors and flavors, and one is of my favorite summer dishes.Image

The third dish was a Tomato and Caper Bruschetta. Toasted baguette slices rubbed with garlic and topped with a mix of tomatoes, capers, garlic, and onion! We sprinkled chopped basil and flaky parmesan on top to finish. Yum!Image

On such a nice day, we had to have some iced tea! In keeping with the healthier theme, we brought a simple but delicious Ginger Honey Chamomile tea.

All in all, the event was a blast, and we hope our food helped the inspiration and fun. We want to thank everyone there for helping us have a great first event experience and look forward to hopefully working with you in the future. A special thank you to our friend and host DJ Chica, and congratulations on an inspiring promotional event.

The recipes included in this post will be coming soon!!

Coming up this week: Brie stuffed Pork Chops, Pineapple Upside down cupcakes and more!
